American Institute for Research and Education, or ASIAM, is an independent, tax-exempt IRS code 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Dr. Woo received the International Olympic Committee's 1998 Olympic Prize for Sports Science endowed by Parke-Davis in recognition of the contributions to the science of sports medicine made by him and his colleagues. Dr. & Mrs. Woo donated most of the $250,000 prize money to establish ASIAM over a decade ago. The generous donations and support from the board members as well as friends of ASIAM have sustained our mission.

American Institute for Research & Education (ASIAM) was founded over a decade ago by Dr. Savio L-Y. Woo. Dr. Woo has dedicated his life's work to teaching students, fellows and residents. Together with them, they have developed new knowledge to improve procedures for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and ligament healing and regeneration.
When he was honored with the Olympic Gold Prize and Gold Medal from the International Olympic Committee in 1998 at the Nagano games, he and Mrs. Woo saw a way to enrich the careers of young investigators by donating most of the award monies to ASIAM. Through ASIAM, Dr. and Mrs. Woo along with colleagues and friends, have been able to pursue the following goals.
